God never ceases to offer us his mercy.When we sin, an unhealthy attachment to earthly things remains even after the guilt of sin is forgiven.Such attachments can be purified here on earth through an indulgence or in purgatory; this purification is known as the remission of temporal punishment due to sin (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1472).
During the Jubilee, a plenary indulgence—the complete remission of temporal punishment due to sin (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1471)—in the usual form of the Church will be granted to all the faithful who are truly repentant and confess their sins, receive Holy Communion, pray for the intentions of the Holy Father, and perform one of the following:
a pilgrimage visit to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels or Mission Basilica San Buenaventura to pray;
participation in a parish mission or study of the documents of the Second Vatican Council or the Catechism of the Catholic Church;
corporal or spiritual works of mercy;
penitential practices.
We invite you to read the full decree on obtaining an indulgence during the Jubilee.
